Clothes for the Redhead

By Valerie Mellema

If you are like most women, you want to wear clothes that not only accentuate your body, but your hair as well. Wearing colors that do not match your skin tones and hair coloring can make you look washed out and run down. Clothes are as important as your makeup and your hair style so choose wisely.

If you have red hair, dyed or not, you want to wear clothing that is the right color. Each shade of red may require something different. Most redheads want to wear clothes that accentuate their hair color. If you are a true red, or have copper or auburn colors, then you want to stick to the earthy colors. These are your browns, camels, dark colors and olive greens. You may not to want to wear pinks or purples. Other colors that may not bring out your red shine are navy, taupe, gray and bright red.

If you are someone that wants to bring out your wild side and wear colors that actually clash with your hair, then you should still choose to wear colors that set off your hair, and not drown it. A light pink can be worn against your red hair. Even a bright pink can be worn, if you wear it on the bottom half of your body.

One color that everyone, including redheads, can wear is green. Green goes with just about shade of hair. Although, the lighter your hair is, the lighter the green you should wear. Red hair is gorgeous against a beautiful green sweater or shirt. It seems to be the universal color for red hair.

Everyone can wear black as well. That is, everyone except redheads. You can get away with it; it just seems to drown out the life in your hair and face. If you want to wear black, then wear black pants or a black shirt with a jacket over it. Remember, clothes should accentuate your hair and makeup, not clash with it.

Once you have figured out what colors work the best, then clean out your closet and get rid of the colors that don’t. You don’t want to be tempted to wear clothes that do not compliment you. Find your color and wear it proudly.
